What’s Up?

Hello Everyone,

So we didn’t have a reunion this year. All’s not lost…like the Cubs, “There’s always next year.” Anyway, some news:

  1. Uncle Tony and Cousin Lorance have relocated to Tennessee to the house Aunt Nancy fell in love with (and bought) shortly before She passed.
  2. Cousins Chuckie and Tony just got back from exploring Yellowstone, boy are their feet tired.
  3. Due to Hurricane Dorian many of our Brothers and Sisters in the Bahamas lost everything   – we’re praying they get back on their feet soon.
  4. Uncle Titus – is still with us 🙂

2018 Book-to-Screen PitchFest

Our very own Uncle Titus is at it again…

“I just returned from Beverly Hills, pitching my book to 14 major Movie & TV production companies along with 94 other authors that all would like to see their books on the big screen?
“2018 Book-to-Screen PitchFest”!
Ages: 16 youngest, from Canada & 89 oldest, Titus from Pelham, NH.
It was very interesting & entertaining looking Producers, Directors & Playwright people right in the eyes with a two minutes pitch (bell ringing, no exceptions) moving to each production company until completing the cycle.
We had a full day of practice sessions with Producers & Directors provided by AuthorHouse, our Publishing Company, to help us fine tune our presentations.
This link http://www.fall-inmilitarynews.us/Books.html Is an outstanding, unsolicited article and review of “Titus”. It is the top choice of 16 recommended books for reading, sent to our US service men & women around the GLOBE.”

When was the last time you followed your roots?

If you were invited to a Talk Show,

how many of the following questions could you answer:

  1. How many Cousins do you have, and what are their Names/Birthdays?
  2. How many of your Cousins are married, and have children of their own, and what are their Names/Birthdays?
  3. How many of your Married Cousins Children are Married, and have Children of their own, and what are their Names/Birthdays?
  4. Have you ever heard of, and know the meaning of the word “PIRC”?

When’s the Next PIRC Reunion?

Hi folks,

The time has come for the PIRC Family Train racing along the Plomaritis track of life to make that major REST & REFUELING stop since our 2001 stop in MA followed by two mini funeral stops in Springfield & Merrillville to remember Aunt Nancy and Uncle Joe as we did for Uncle Tim and Uncle George.

After discussing the matter with some 12 family members over some 3 months that we would not stop at Nantahala Village, we decided on a site further south in a suburb of GA as we continue our journey south.

Cousin Deb agreed on location with Cousins Tony & Chuckie serving as host.

We decided that we would ask for $50/adult to cover our banquet program & bowling tournament.

The primary mission of PIRC is to keep the 24 Plomaritis Cousinhood members connected.  I think we have done well but our last reunion we had only 8 as compared to 20 for our first at Merrillville in ’92 & Springfield in ’95.  And our largest overall attendance at  R-2001 in NC with the Vargis & Mantis extended family members joining us.

It is a sacrifice to make time for our family reunions but haven’t we all experienced that sweet moment of arrival?!!! We’ll be having our 3 day program in late July or early August worked out by Chuckie and Deb with a golfing outing squeezed in as we did for our Odyssey 2001 Reunion.

So send your checks to our Financial secretary cousin Chuckie @

Cousins

Let’s just get this out of the way..my cousins are great. I have the privilege of knowing most of them quite well. It was so nice to grow up with some of them..wouldn’t trade it for anything.

For example, I have fond memories of days and nights out at “The Farm” that I would never want to forget. Eating weird food, playing with the cats, balling hay, working with cousin Jonathan, FREEZING TO DEATH in the winter, playing music (my sisters got to do this), trying to get out of doing work for my Uncle Tim…I could go on for hours… Continue reading

History of the Plomaritis name.

Ok..so where do the Plomaritis’ come from? Our patriarch Demosthenes came from Greece. According to legend he went to the island of Lesbos and lived in the village of Plomari.

When he arrived at Ellis Island in 1915 he was asked “What is your name?” He thought they said “Where are you from?” so he gave them the name of his village…and the rest is history.

Pirc news updates

Hi Folks,

During the graveside service for Uncle Joe, Cousin Mark spoke of the Plomaritis Train racing along the track of life, and though we are grieving, we should find comfort knowing that his dad is just in the sleeper car joining Uncle George and Uncle Tim. Continue reading

Upcoming 2017 Reunion

From the desk of Uncle Tony…

After a respectful silence followed by some personal conversation, it’s become apparent with perhaps one exception, from tone of voice and body language that those who have been to Nantahala Village aren’t enthused about going back. So it’s off the table. So we’ll continue south.
