REUNION 2011: AUG 5-7 SPRINGFIELD,MA
Hi Folks, Happy to be getting back to you all.
After a some what cool spring so far, with few exceptions, we suddenly find ourselves into real summer weather for the next few days anyway. Good for getting us in the reunion mood. After three restarts, barring a weather related catastrophe we’re closing in on PIRC’s 6th family reunion set for August 5-7-2011. Our program started back in 1992 with the stated mission : “to keep the 24 cousins connected with newsletters, family albums and family reunions”. Since then the internet has become a powerful force in our daily lives as well as our PIRC program. The PIRC-GRAM has replaced the Newsletter that primarily kept us up on our Reunions. The PIRC-HOME web site has provides us with a history of our reunions, managed by Cousin Danny, and the PIRC-O-GRAM, managed by Uncle Dave, provides us a family blog site for the Unclehood+1, the 24 Cousinhood and their children. Extended family members and family friends can receive e-mails upon request to Uncle Dave.
Aunt Nancy and I had Aunt Anne, Cousins Jon, Missy and Phoebe over for a Greek night. Nancy wowed them with her spanakopita and pastitchio. Besides the food, the discussions revolved around our reunions and travel plans for this summer’s event. I got a great picture of Aunt Nancy preparing dinner on my my new digital camera Now I have to figure out how to get it to Cousin Moriah.
Aunt Nancy and I will be leaving on Mon, arriving at the hotel on Wed. giving us an extra day for socializing. You may have noted that this year’s reunion is shaped for a closer socializing environment. I’ll be sending my RSVP. Our first five reunions took place in five different locations in four different states hosted by five different family goups. Something for which the Cousinood can be trully proud .
But it has not been without some pain and a whole lot of stress as our families have grown. So after we cancelled our scheduled 6th reunion for the third time, your chairman secretary decided to take a fresh look at some practical adjustments to lessen the stress of trying to keep all family members engaged. With some help from Uncle Dave, a lot of help from Aunt Priss, three options will be presented to the B.O.T. at the next business meeting to determine how we will move forward.
The B.O.T. is made up of one cousin from each family group. As it now stands: Cousin Debbie: President, chairwoman and power of veto.
Cousin Jonathan: Treasurer and one of the two signitures required to withdraw funds
Cousin Chuckie: Financial secretary and one of two signitures required to withdraw funds
Cousin Dara, Cousin Di, Cousin Mindy, Cousin Aly.
Cousin David has been promoted to legal counsel and sits in on the business meetings.
An important force as our program expands. Coordinating committee:
Uncle Tony: Chairman Secretary and one of two signitures required to withdraw funds, and power ov veto.
Uncle Dave: Secretary of communications.
Aunt Priss: Sergent of Arms and chief adviser and back upper ready on a moments notice.
Cousin Deb and I call it our checks and balance; Fair and Slightly Unbalanced.
