08-2010 REUNION 2010: AUG 13-14-15

Hi Folks:
Been having some beautiful weather this early spring in the Midwest. Finally back on my four day ten hour schedule. During the winter months my boss allowed me a schedule that allowed to drive to and from work in the daylight due to my visual handicap. It was very considerate of him but it required a five day work routine. But I do love having my three day weekends, Sat – Sun – Mon.
After a 2 1/2 year distraction our PIRC program is up and running again and just a few weeks ago I was back to reviewing my daily work routine. While Aunt Nancy was back home since the end of last may, Cousin Lorance and I were busy with the home remodeling so badly needed and a way to keep Aunt Nancy in a rosy mood. Getting her back to see our family doctor proved to be a challenge.
But all is well now… In a few days we’ll be heading to Tenn.
for Cousin Kristin’s HS graduation.
We’ll then be focused on Odyssey 2010 Reunion, 3rd in our series of 4 Odyssey reunions scheduled. Our first three reunions focused on our Family Roots.
The Family Roots reunions were to focus on our heritage while the Odyssey reunions were to focus on the “PIRC Cousinhood”; Dan and Niki Plomaritis’ 24 grandchildren from their 7 children.
Our program of family reunions was put together following the death of YI YI Niki in 1990. We held our first reunion in August of 1992 financed by a donation from YI Yi Niki’s account balance. We now have had 5 reunions spaced 3-5 years. Our 6th reunion is scheduled for August 13-15.
Our charter arranged for a temporary donation process until the Board of Trustees worked out a financial plan which they laid out during our R-98 Reunion.
We started with a two day program in 1992, and developed into three day, three event program in 1995. In 1998, our program was settled as a three day, three event at a three year spread routine. A fee of $50.00 per person over a three year spread would be $150.00 for each single member and $300.00 per family for each reunion regardless of a 4 yr of 5 yr spread. Cousin Chuckie was appointed as the financial secretary who would send out periodic statements reminding dues paying members of where they stood.
Due to the fact that our program lay dormant for some two years and the economic downturn, Deb and I decided to go with a two day program requiring only $200.00 per family this time around. For those who already paid $300.00 will get a credit for the next reunion scheduled for Florida, hosted by Aunt Priss’ family. Details will be furnished at our upcoming reunion hosted by Cousins Deb and Russ in Springfield Mass.
We will skip our official field trip day sandwiched between our Bowling Tournament and Banquet. But not to fret. Our program will be Fri-Sat. For those who can hang in there, we will have an informal field trip day discovering the joys of barbecuing in Uncle Joe’s back yard on Sun.
Cousin Danny over this period developed a web site recording our reunions inpictures and some audio. As we move along more features will be added, all serving as statement of our family history.
Cousin Danny also serves as secretary of PIRC’s entertainment committee along with nationally renowned musician “Cousin Mike”. As we speak they are working through SKYPE on their music.
We are aware that some info on our web site contact page needs to be updated. We will be letting you know shortly our hotel site. Until then, Your loving Uncle, Brother, Cousin, Friend, & Dad, Uncle Tony
